Golf. Mashie-Niblick Classic Golf. Forty men enter. Two men left standing at the end of the day.

It is, by nearly all accounts, the most difficult game – and tourney – to master. A game for gentlemen and wretches. A game for the high and mighty and for those who dream of high and mighty attainment.

The skills needed to succeed are given to some in sublime abundance – and nearly from birth. Others rip those abilities from the earth itself by challenging their own inadequacies and demanding at least some detente with the Gods of the Game.

The Mashie is a place where the traditions and the possibilities of golf are revered, studied and loudly discussed. A place where membership is granted to all who love the game regardless of their circumstance. A place where conditions are always favorable for scoring and a round takes only three blissful hours to play…

From blowouts to spectacular playoff finishes, the Mashie has provided the thrill of victory and the agony of defeat for a host of fine men and fine players. There are no “gimmes” here.
